Can someone use my phone messages to get others charged with crimes? Posted on June 04, 2011

I'm 18 years old and live with my mom and my stepdad. Yesterday, I got caught shoplifting and had weed on my person. They decided not to charge me with possession but just the shoplifting. After I was arrested, my stepdad took my phone, looked through all the messages and is considering turning it into the police to bust all of my friends that smoke pot. Since I'm 18, is that invasion of privacy? Although, he does pay for my phone bill. Can I do anything to persecute him?
