Can simply a prior drug charge constitute probable cause for a search? 1 Answers as of February 28, 2017

I had a drug charge over 7 years ago that was dismissed along with a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia conviction. I was sitting in my car parked on private property when asked to search. The vehicle was not running. I said no search. They searched anyway due to finding out of a prior drug charge more than 7 years prior. Is that legal?
