Can a private attorney represent me in the DMV hearing for my DUI, and a public defender for trial? 2 Answers as of April 12, 2011

I only have enough money to cover the DMV hearing. Is this allowed? Would it offend the DA or judge?

Yes you can use a private attorney for the DMV hearing and a public defender for the DUI. You will have to qualify for a public defender which is based on financial means. They may think if you have money for attorney at the DMV hearing you can afford an attorney for the DUI. Its all based on your income status. Good Luck.
