Can new wife of retiree draw social security benefits if ex-wife is deceased? 1 Answers as of May 10, 2011

Retiree has been drawing Social Security Benefits since 2001, his wife at the time was drawing spousal benefits. Since this time, the Retiree has divorced and remarried. The ex-wife died in February of this year (2011). (Ex-wife has never paid into system because she never worked). Wife now of 3 years is still working, is she now eligible to receive spousal benefits?

This is a social security question. Call the SS office and ask them, a divorce court cannot award SS benefits.
