Can I sue drunk driver for property damage? Posted on June 28, 2011

A drunk driver recently drove into my backyard brick/block fence, knocking bricks as far as 30 ft away. Some of the blocks landed in and damaged my pool. I have filed insurance claims with the driver's insurance to have the damage repaired, but I currently have a 20 ft wide hole in my brick fence, which is adjacent to a public road. If anyone had been back there (me, my wife, my dog, etc.) I am sure none would have walked away in one piece. Just two months ago I was involved in a separate accident with a drunk driver. At this point I'm pretty enraged about the incident, as well as the loss of use of my backyard and pool until the damage is repaired. Nobody was injured in the accident. Do I have any recourse besides filing these insurance claims?
