Can I still get my unemployment benefits if I get deported? 3 Answers as of October 28, 2011

My grandmother was born in the Dominican republic, but her father was Puerto Rican. Was she considered to be American? and how can her children claim the citizenship? Also, I used to be in the US, but I was deported to the Dominican Republic, I worked for 10 months straight but did not claim my unemployment benefits, can I still get it if deported?

I do not know the answer on your unemployment benefits; but you should be able to contact that agency and ask them. With regard to your claim for citizenship we would need to analyze your family's situation, time in the U.S. etc. If you want to set up a paid consultation we can do this for you.

You may not claim unemployment if you are not here. If your grand father lived in the US ten years before your mom was born and same with your mother, you are a US citizen.

No you must be ready, willing, and able to work. Since you are not in the country you are not.
