Can I require my son's killer take a lie detector test? 2 Answers as of October 12, 2017

My son was shot and killed by his friend last December. The friend pointed a gun at my son's face and pulled the trigger. One other person was there. He was charged with negligent homicide. They took their statements and they said it was an accident. I don't believe enough has been done. The trial is in October. At the very least, we believe it was manslaughter.

No. Neither you or the prosecutor can make such a motion as any accused has a right to remain silent. In any event lie detector results are not admissible in evidence at a trial under California law.
