Can I renew my foid card if I have domestic battery charge? Posted on August 09, 2011

In 2003 I was charged with domestic battery, the D.A agreed to reduce or amend the charge to battery if I plead guilty. I was told by my lawyer at the time I would only pay a $100 fine and there would be no further repercussions, I accepted the deal and plead guilty. I tried to purchase a firearm recently but was denied due to the fact that my FOID card apparently had been revoked. I'm planning on reapplying for a FOID card but my question is will I be automatically denied or can I still obtain one?Note: There are no other convictions or charges on my record other than the 2003 battery stated above.
