Can I petition for my mother who has been here illegally for more than 10 years? 1 Answers as of March 21, 2011

I just became a citizen and want to petition for my mother but she has been here illegally for more than 10 years. Is it possible to do it without her having to leave the country? Is it possible at all?

Very unlikely because once you petition for her, you will alert USCIS to her illegal presence and she could then be taken into custody and placed in removal proceedings.
