Can I get a statue of limitations if restrictions on a property have not been enforced? Posted on July 29, 2011

My HOA deed restrictions state that a basketball goal is not permitted in front of, or to the side of a residence, when not in use. Is residence defined as the actual home, or the property the house sits upon? Are there statute of limitations if these restrictions have not been enforced in the last 2-3 years, or if previous board members have stated in the minutes (in years past) that basketball goals are permitted if not left in the street?
