Can I get in trouble for texting an inmate who has a contraband cell phone? 1 Answers as of March 23, 2016

I live in New York and I met this inmate through a penpal website. We have been texting with occasional phone calls (he has a cell phone which I did not provide nor did I ever pay the bill) for 6 months. I ended the relationship about 2 days ago and I no longer communicate with him. If they were to ever find out he has a cell phone , would I get into any legal trouble. And if so what kind of legal trouble would I be facing?
