Can I change locks when spouse moves out, no divorce filed yet? 1 Answers as of June 02, 2011

My spouse moved out of our home nearly 2 months ago. My spouse continually comes into our house and removes food and other items from our house and goes through my personal items without my permission while I am not home. Am I allowed to change the locks to prevent entry to the house?

Yes, however, if he is on the deed as an owner, he has the right to break into his own house. Whether he will or not is another question. It may bring things to a head and expedite the filing of the divorce. If you have kids try to work things out. Stay well.
