If the guns are locked in a safe then the other people are not constructively possessing them.If they are in the open then the felon could be charged with constructive possession of a weapon and the jail sentence would be mandatory on a felony weapons possession.

Yes a felon is prohibited from owning firearms. However, if it is determined that the weapons are in fact yours and simply under someone else's name you could be prosecuted.
