Can a company hold me to a non-compete order if they cannot pay my salary anymore? Posted on June 08, 2011

I've worked as RVP of US Sales for a Florida based spinal implant company. Our patent didn't hold up so there are many larger companies that have copied our product driving our company sales dangerously low. I signed a non-compete when hired. The have informed me they cannot pay my salary at all anymore. I would need to sell and get cases in other distributors territories to earn compensation. Being that they cannot pay salary as they have for the previous year, can they hold me to my non-compete form working for a company that has a competitive product in their list of products?
