Can a collections agency ask for more money once they agree to a settlement? Posted on March 12, 2011

I agreed with a collections agency to pay a small lump sum followed by monthly payments there after. After the first lump sum payment was taken, i received notcie to call and found out that my payment had apparently put me under the amount to make my agreed monthly payment an acceptable payment. They now are telling my my monthly payment has to be upped an extra $41 dollars a month or i stand to have my wages garnished. Can they do that after there was an agreement already in place to avoid any kind of garnishment of wages or taxes?
