Can an employer pay you less than what was agreed upon? 1 Answers as of May 12, 2011

Can an employer offer you an extra day of work and a raise, then when you accept it they turn around and lower your hourly wage by a $1.00 an Hr? Also, can they expect you to work after an elevator closes on your hand and they don't even take you for an x-ray?

An employer cannot reduce your salary retroactively. In other words, if you are hired at a rate of $10.00 per hour, and you work for two weeks, following which you are to be paid for the work you have already done, then your boss advises you the rate is to be reduced, it cannot be reduced for the work you have already performed, however it can be reduced for all work going forward.
