Shawn M. Murray

About Me

Shawn Murray graduated from St. Martins Episcopal High School in Metairie, Louisiana in 1983, and then from Louisiana State University with a Bachelors degree in Psychology in 1987. He then worked as a counselor for the Louisiana Department of Social Services, St. Jude Hospital, River Oaks Hospital and St. Charles Parish Hospital before beginning law school at Tulane University in August of 1996. While studying law at Tulane between 1995 and 1999 Mr. Murray was employed as a law clerk for Chehardy, Sherman Law Firm in Metairie. Upon passing the bar he began his law practice at Chehardy, primarily handling Workers Compensation and Personal Injury cases. In 2003 Mr. Murray accepted a position with the insurance defense firm of Rabalais, Unland & Lorio in Covington, defending Workers Compensation cases. During his time there he gained a keen understanding of how the insurance companies think, and the kinds of tactics they use in order to avoid paying on valid claims. In October of 2005 Mr. Murray started The Law Firm of Shawn M. Murray in Covington, focusing his practice primarily on representing people who had been injured while working. He moved his office to Mandeville in April of 2011. Mr. Murray now exclusively represents individuals in legal matters involving injuries and death resulting from work-related accidents. He is a member of the Workers Injury Law & Advocacy Group, Louisiana Workers Advocates, the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Federal Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, the New Orleans Bar Association and the Greater Covington Bar Association. Mr. Murray is admitted to practice before all Louisiana state and federal courts. Mr. Murray is also currently serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Mental Health Association of St. Tammany ("MHAST").
