Born and raised in Muncie, Indiana, a graduate of Muncie Central High School (Class of 75) Mark joined the Army and spent 7 years between Texas, California, and Alaska. Marrying a music teacher from Wasilla, Alaska, Mark and his new bride headed off to college in Missouri and law school in Michigan. In 1996, his wife, Barbara, died of cancer leading Mark to raise for children. He remarried his present wife, Melanie, and the couple along with the children went to Alaska. He returned to his hometown in 2009 where he opened his law practice.
Osterman is a litigation attorney. He has spent substantial time in courtrooms in both criminal and civil matters, some of which are been complex. His criminal defense work has included capital cases, assault, rape, and robbery as well as misdemeanor and DWI cases. Civil litigation has involved large companies and million-dollar contracts. In addition to litigation, he has substantial practice in appeals. Outside of the courtrooms, he has an interest in real estate and has substantial experience in Indiana, Michigan and Alaska on right-of-way and property line problems. He is presently of counsel to several interstate law firms working mortgage defense and efforts to reallocate consumer debt to assist people who would have lost their jobs and have nowhere to go.
Mark is a Ham radio operator holding a General Class license with the call sign KL2RR. He enjoys woodworking and his family when not in his office or a courtroom.
