About Me

James Wingfield graduated from Northeastern University School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree and the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

While in law school Mr. Wingfield held several internships including work as a judicial intern with the Honorable Joseph L. Tauro of United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts; with the legal department of a Fortune 500 Corporation; and as a student prosecutor with the Middlesex County District Attorneys Office. This varied background prepared Mr. Wingfield for the variety of legal challenges facing attorneys today.

Upon graduating from the Northeastern University School of Law, Mr. Wingfield accepted his first position as a litigation associate with Gillis & Bikofsky, P.C., a small litigation-boutique firm in Newton, Massachusetts. Mr. Wingfields practice at Gillis & Bikofsky focused on civil litigation, criminal defense and corporate law. Mr. Wingfield next spent five years practicing as an associate with Worcester, Massachusettss largest firm, Mirick, OConnell, DeMallie & Lougee, LLP, as an associate in the bankruptcy and commercial litigation departments. Mr. Wingfields practice was unique in the firm, as he represented large and small commercial creditors in both civil litigation, commercial loan workouts and bankruptcy proceedings. In addition to his representation of commercial creditors, a large portion of his practice was devoted to representation of Chapter 7 trustees in a wide variety of bankruptcy matters, including asset administration and recovery litigation.

This varied background in civil litigation, creditor representation in and out of bankruptcy and Chapter 7 trustee representation has given Mr. Wingfield a unique perspective in his representation of debtors in consumer and small business bankruptcy matters. Today Mr. Wingfields practice primarily focuses on representation of individuals, families and small businesses struggling with debt both in bankruptcy, state and federal court litigation and in alternative resolution methods, such as loan modification agreements.
