Formerly a high school social studies teacher, Bill explains the law and answers question from a teacher’s perspective. He appears at all Chapter 13 meetings of creditors, and brings 30 years of experience with bankruptcy proceedings, and negotiations with creditors and court motions.
His key content person and office manager is his wife of 40 years, Valerie, who has been preparing petitions for almost 30 years. His associate attorney, David Gates, has been a friend of 25 years and recently has assumed lead attorney duties, including initial telephone consultation.
He has flexible hours so clients do not need to miss work to meet with him. As a result, his appointments with clients take place late in the afternoon, and during evenings and weekends. He does not maintain a formal office but finds that in a less formal environment like a local Peet’s or Starbucks coffee, where the atmosphere tends to be relaxed and discussions of client’s situation tend to be much less stressful than an attorney’s office.
Our office philosophy of personal understanding and patience attracts many persons who are not native English speakers. We use family, friends, former clients and professionals to assist in clear communication for all clients who we serve.
